I just got back from seeing this with my 11 year old daughter and her friend. My daughter had read the book and couldn't wait to see the movie. I had no idea what to expect except for seeing the trailer. The movie was a big surprise in many ways. It dealt with many difficult issues in a way that preteens and teens will understand. I agree with some other reviewers that you might consider taking kids under 10 to see it. The story and acting were very good. Even though the movie had less actual fantasy than the trailer might have led you to believe, you actually end up using your own imagination in a good way with the kids. Great movie that can be fun for parents too. |
