After reading some of the critics' reviews, I'm so thankful that I live in a country where I'm free to make up my own mind.
I took my 7-year old daughter to see the movie on Friday night. She is the most un-impressed child you would meet. After the movie she turned to me and said that it was the best movie she's ever seen.
As for the supposed mature content, I believe that's why it's called mature.
Because, only mature minds will get the subtleties of some of what is implied. However, the children, who if we as parents are letting them still be CHILDREN, should only be taking the movie for what it is, ENTERTAINMENT!!
I feel sorry for the people who feel the need to break it down by moral, social, and political categories and assimilate a cartoon to satire.
I feel that Shrek and Shrek 2 were more subltly perverted, more of a spoof, and more of a copycat than Arthur and the Invisibles. Yet, I watch and let my child watch because I refuse to let some holier-than-thou interpret what is good or bad for me and my family.
If you want to see some shocking, violent and sexually suggestive cartoonage, take a look at Betty Boop, Popeye, The Roadrunner, even Bugs Bunny when he dressed like a female... now I suppose that these so-called critics will try to say that Warner Brothers was promoting Homosexuality and Cross-Dressing?
