Coraline, though I never read the book thought it was a really cute movie, The story was basically a metaphor about the grass always being greener on the other side, I appreciated the story and thought back to stories I had to remind me of this age old addage when I was a kid, like Wizard of Oz, I found some of the subject matter, like partial nudity probably uncomfortable for most parents and heard children laughing nervously at the half nude eighty year old puppets, While leaving the theatre I heard a couple of kids saying it wasn't as good as they thought it would be, At the age of 25 I went in to this pretty much knowing it was not a childrens movie, I was attracted to it for the stop motion animation, All in all, I would say to summarize this story is not for children under 13 and should be watched more by that age group anyway as it seems that's about where teens begin to disconnect with their parents and head off to do their own things, The visuals were amazing, the story was good and all in all I really enjoyed myself, the 3-D was good but not spectacular, there were some funny parts but really I would recommend this story for someone who really thinks a little deeper than what they see, I enjoyed the movie and if you're older than the age of 13, I feel the material is pretty appropriate and will entertain you for your two hours and twenty dollar investment. |
