Well, Isla Fisher is quickly becoming one of my favorite actresses. From "Wedding Crashers" to "Definitely Maybe" and now this. She is the lone bright spot in an otherwise bland, contrived, weak story. I feel so bad for Jason Biggs. Even though he is 10 years older, he is still stuck as poor Jim from "American Pie" and always will be until he starts taking on some roles with meaning. His schtick wasn't completely juvenile in this movie but that was more than compensated for by his parents. They were two of the most misplaced, disgusting characters I've seen in what is billed as a romantic comedy.
Like I said, without Isla Fisher this would be 1/2 star but she at leasts makes this movie just painful. |
