And to be honest, one of my favorite since 2004's 'Sideways' and 2003's 'Return of the King'. I'm seeing lots of mixed reviews here, but I have to say that I thought this film was fantastic! I'm almost alarmed at some of the negative reviews coming out because it makes me feel like we didn't see the same movie. The topic is controversial, yes, but I think it is handled very well. The acting is fantastic (DiCaprio and Hounsou). The storytelling is great. The action and violence fits the plot, etc. To be honest, I learned something about America, Africa, and diamonds from this film. The added bonus is that it entertained me, moved me, and inspired me in then end. Is this the best film of all time? Certainly not. Still, I highly recommend this film. |
