Sitting here as an Englishman almost turning 50, I have to say this movie was great.
"She who looks like she sucks lemons" ( and let's leave Kenny Chesney out of this please ), once again does her credible English accent - but this time in the service of a movie with way more wit and style than those about Bridget Jones.
The story is great, the subtle use of fantasy is not overdone and the Lake District looks just lovely.
I was brought up on Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck, Squirrel Nutkin and Mrs Tiggywinkle. This movie brings the joy of those characters and their creator to life of the screen and is simply a delight.
And one of my all time favotite British actresses is in it too - I refer to the ever radiant, Barbara Flynn. |
