The talk of this movie has become less about the actual movie than the fact that people feel that it is a liberal production solely for the purpose of attacking the government.

And maybe it is an attack on the United States - but -it is not unwarranted. First of all, these people were NOT terrorists, just muslims. Secondly, not all Muslims are radical extremists, and if you think that then you are not in tune with the current fabric of the world. Thirdly, the United States position in the political structure of the international community not only strengthens our need for human rights but REQUIRES it. The fact of the matter is we are no longer a country that is the face of human rights, as we proclaim, but a country that will do whatever it takes to acheive its goals, and that is not acceptable. If we torture those who are suspected of terrorism, than the end result is that we have degraded ourselves to the levels of al-Zarqawi or a Hussein or a Castro or a Pinochet or a Milosevic. Our European allies can no longer look us in the face. These incidents, in combination with the tapping excercises performed on ordinary citizens, are beginning to mutate our government into something more along the lines of apartheid-era South Africa (which not only tapped African tribal leaders but those of white liberals, and whom also imprisoned people wrongly) than the democracy we say we are.

This movie is a harrowing account of how mistakes by the U.S. government negatively impacted (severely) the lives of three British citizens. This type of "mistake" is something that is beginning to occur too often, and frankly the United States government needs to take responsibility for the mess they have created.
