'Horror' genre has become a joke

Does anybody remember when you first saw a genuine 'Horror' movie? The feeling of terror ran through your body as you watched 'The Exorcist,' or perhaps 'Jaws,' even an occasional slasher-flick, such as the original 'Halloween.' These movies defined what the 'Horror' genre used to be, in all of its glory.

Now, we have movies that are labeled as 'horror' films but are actually more of a comedy. No sense of terror, nothing to be afraid of, and you sit through these films wondering what the hell has gone wrong over the past decade (or even more) with this once-great genre of films. Honestly, all 'horror' represents these days (with few exceptions) are buckets upon buckets of blood, intense gore and laughable scripts. It is pathetic. This movie is instantly forgettable, just as all 'horror' films have been for the longest time.

If you ever did or consider yourself a fan of true films that make your skin crawl, do yourself a favor and go out and rent some of the pictures mentioned above. 'Black Christmas,' much like almost every film that shamefully labels itself as a 'horror' flick this day and age, is just awful. Awfully bad.
