Dear "4 days and 6 hours from now" self,
I'm leaving this review in the event that you (or I) get it and are wondering whether to see this movie. I should.
First, any movie that references the Einstein-Rosen bridge has to have promise. Now, I'm sure that if I try hard enough I'll be able to poke holes in the story of time travel etc. However, seeing that physicists haven't proven that its possible yet, if a movie director could make a watertight story I guess we'd have to give him the Nobel Prize. So let's just go with it. Its believable enough.
The story is basically about a terrorist-caused exploding ferry and how Denzel gets involved in the investigation. High-tech FBI guys pull him in to help them. They are using new technology that they stumbled on that lets them see 4 days and 6 hours into the past. The reason they need Denzel is that their view is "live" in that they can't go forward, backward, etc. They can change where they look just not when. Its always 4 days and 6 hours into the past of the current time. So they need a guy who knows the area/people who can help steer where they are looking so they are looking in the right place at the right time. Sounds good enough for me.
As usual, Denzel is great. The guy knows how to pick a good script when he sees one.
Also, I thought that the movie was well made in terms of the details. Eventhough there are changes in the past they don't drastically change the course of history and the original events and the new ones are carefully tied together.
All in all I enjoyed it. I wouldn't say that there were any real tense or suspensful moments, but it was a good story and the movie went fast for me. I'd see it again...unless I have already. |
