I saw this movie in a screening for our classical Iranian poetry class (which Mark Amin - its producer - is a part of). It is a good (modernized) intro to the philosophy of Rumi... and, the fact that it is the true story of the life of Dan Millman made it even more compelling and interesting. It's wonderful to see a story that pushes in a different direction than that of blatant materialism and advertorial pornography that is so prevalent in hollywood blockbuster movies today. I think that Mark / Lions Gate has done everyone a service bringing the important message of living in the moment to the modern world where we are putting off so much of the simple joy of "now" in the pursuit of superficial nonesense in an illusory future, contrived by our superficial "rational" minds. |
