The last romantic comedy I watched this good was "When Harry Met Sally". The film portrayed the pain and heartbreak of being loved or valued less than was fair or right. The Kate Winslet Character was set on the road to recovery of her self esteem through the act of service to the Elderly Hollywood Writer next door. The old man told her she was a leading lady in a movie but was acting like the friend ( a suporting role) in the movie of life. He had her watch old movies where the female lead showed "Gumption", an old word that means courage, self reliance. Through her service helping him, she came to realize she had value and deserved happiness. I don't want to spoil the movies story but I will say I enjoyed every minute of the film as did everyone I was with. |
