First the positives. I very much enjoyed the scenes featuring Ashley Judd's naked breasts. So much for the positives.
I studied film in college under the founder of a major film festival, so I guess I am not totally ignorant. I have seen all sorts of work framed as artsy. I have been moved by films that were not particularly entertaining. I can't say that I was moved in any way by this piece... except to get up and leave. But, perpetual student that I am, I suffered through the whole thing.
My wife says Ms. Judd's career will never recover from this. That observation contrasts rather sharply with other posters here who are already talking Oscar.
This film almost literally made me sick. Maybe there is an Oscar category for that. |
