I had a chance to see this film in late July at BestFest America with master storyteller writer/director Frank E. Flowers in tow. An enthusiastic audience relished the multiple story lines (Romeo and Juliet-like forbidden love, international banking intrigue, and underbelly nightlife of the Caymans) with a time line that had the story unfold at a pace and flash-cut style reminiscent slices of "Crash" and "Pulp Fiction". You'll see Orlando Bloom in a role unlike anything else he's ever done as the quiet and understated "Shy". Bill Paxton nails it as a protective single parent skirting the law and placing his 16 year-old daughter in far greater danger than he realizes. For a first-time director of a feature, this film far exceeded my expectations and everyone else in the audience. Enjoy! |
