Great perspective...

This was an excellent movie. It is an eye opening perspective to the terrors of Sudan in the 80's and 90's, and the will and perseverance of a handful of Lost Boys who come to America in hopes of receiving an education and earning money to send back to Sudan.
Particularly, it made me look at our culture. The lost boys point out that all Americans do is work, we don't have time for our families, we are not friendly, and are too concerned with material goods.
The most poignant scene from the movie dealt with celebrating Christmas. One of the boys asks, "Are Christmas trees in the Bible? Is Santa Clause in the Bible? I don't understand America. In Sudan, we celebrate the birth of Christ at Christmas." |
