If you're looking for something that's going to win an Oscar the next time around, you should know better than to attend such a film as this.
If you're looking for a movie with plot twists and deep meaningful dialogue, you should know that a movie called "D.O.A." isn't going to fit the bill.
The simple truth of the matter is that this movie is mostly based on a VIDEO GAME SERIES!!! Not a novel written by some famous writer, not a film created by one of the greatest minds of our generation, A VIDEO GAME! One should never expect high caliber acting from people you've never heard of. And more over, with a dialogue that came from a video game designed to give you 20 ways to BASH another player, how seriously can you take a script like that?
Now, having said that, if you haven't played the video game, here are a few things you should know: The video game has cheesey dialogue, scantily clad women, absoultely ZERO plot, and lots of fighting. As someone who has seen this film as well as played the video games, I can assure you that some elements will be corny, but over all it's worth the money just to see how close to real life they could bring the series.
If you're a fan, you've played the games, then by all means go enjoy the movie for what it is and not what it could have been... Just the way you would enjoy the next game in the series.
If you're not a "gamer", but love fight movies and half-naked women on screen, then you may like it.
If you're none of the above..... Just see something else. Otherwise, consider yourself warned. |
