Boring!

I'll start by saying that I really don't like old movies. So the fact that this was done in an attempt to feel like an old movie disappointed me from the beginning. Beyond that, there was not one minute of suspense in what was supposed to be a murder mystery. I was so bored I checked my watch and kept wondering how long this drivel was going to go on.
But what really irked me was the horrid inaccuracy. First off, a German bartender with an unmistakably Irish accent? Come on Hollywood...there are wonderfully talented German actors out there who don't have to fake accents at all.
Second, my understanding is that Lena Brandt was Jewish and married to an SS officer. In NO WAY would that ever have happened. Germans and Jews were shot if caught having love affairs and the SS (who had to be the most German Germans in Germany) would never knowingly allow one of their own to marry a Jewish woman. SS wives had to undergo a genealogical background check to make sure they were "German" enough for their husbands.
All in all, boooooooooooo. :( |
