Just got back from a midnight showing of the Grudge 2 and all I have to say is that its much, much better than the first one. Although its Rated PG-13, it seemed more like an R-rated film to some extent.
As the previews show, Sarah Michelle Gellar returns along with a whole new cast including Amber Tamblyn who plays her sister. The movie starts out a little slow but eventually gets back into 1st gear and continues right back to that darn creepy house.
The movie takes place in both Tokyo and North America flipping back and forth. The movie gets confusing at times by doing this and kind of makes you wonder what does it have to do with the rest of the movie.
The acting was decent and doesn't downplay the movie at all. There were many more genuine scary scenes than the 1st and will give you something to talk about after the movie is over. Unlike other U.S. horror flicks which rely on computer graphics and special effects to scare its audience, this movie uses the basics and gives you that true jump-out-of-your-seat scare.
The movie is about an hour and a half long and goes by pretty smooth after the first 15 minutes. If you were a fan of the 1st Grudge, go see this one and you won't be disappointed. Its full of twists and turns and leaves room for another sequel.
I would recommend this movie to all and hope everyone goes to see it. Forget all the other movies in theaters like The Texas Chainsaw movie because that was just crap. Enjoy and have a great weekend. |
