Grudge 2 is almost like "The Blairwitch Project 2" ... it was shocking and terrifying at first but the second time around it seem funny than scary. The throatal groans ain't that freaky anymore.
They delve more into the ghost's background. Which was interesting. However, I was a bit disappointed later just to have the mother character killed off so easily. And she spoke good English while the nurses at the hospital needed an interpreter? The mother was probably went to a US University before becoming a faith healer/exorcist. Maybe.... When the story was told about her childhood, it seemed like from a very distant past. Which it where.
And why did they kill Michelle so soon?
It was interesting though to see how they told the past and present stories simultaneously for the duration of the movie.
There were some scary parts but I was hoping it would top the first. Although the crazy man in the bus doing peek-a-boo and the white chic who was so frightened she peed on herself did made my day. LOL.
So how do you defeat a cursed woman whom, as the mother pointed out, can't be stopped?
I know ... one disappointing box office returns.
Forget about the Grudge 3, it ain't happening. And just because they brought the curse in the States so they can make easy sequels instead of doing abroad doesn't mean it's gonna work. It's an Asian folklore ... goodluck with the Hollywood assimilation.
Grudge 2 for me didn't suck. It was entertaining but you know .... c'mon make something new. |
