When will I wake up?

Now let me get this straight. I enjoyed this movie. It had interesting animated sequences and some bizarre comedic quirky scenes and characters.

Heck, a great combo (I thought) for a good entertaining film. The problem was the story was missing in too many places.

We have the main character Stephane who is plagued by his dreams, which are set in a TV studio with cardboard TV cameras. He views his subconscious on screens and through windows that he occasionally dives into. Some times they are animated with cardboard and cellophane and sometimes they are acted out between him and other characters that he has met in the movie.

Kinda neat.

But somewhere along the way the story gets lost.

Maybe it's the reality sequences that are lacking? I kept wanting for Stephane to wake up, for the movie to wake up. To find out more about Stephane's real world life with his father (deceased) and his mother (alive) or more with his relationships with his co workers or his on again off again girl friend.

In the end the story becomes as disjointed, as one's own quirky jerky dream and I found myself hoping that the movie would wake up.
