Engaging, unexpected, delightful

I was very surprised to find this film to be as delightful as it turned out to be. To be honest, the only reason why I went and watched it is because it was a free screening and I'm a big Steve Carell fan. It was one of those rare films that I wouldn't mind paying to watch again.
The family RV trip across the states has been overused over the years. Robin William's recent "RV" film is a recent example of ruining the originality of National Lampoon's formula, but fortunately, "Little Miss Sunshine" kept the formula at an consistent basis.
While earlier I spoke of being a big Steve Carell fan, I was equally intrigued by the main cast members (Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Alan Arkin, Paul Dano, and Abigail Breslin - the little girl). The spotlight wasn't on just one family member, instead it's projected as a family whole. This formula provides an engaging experience because you are not distracted by any one person.
I encourage you to take a look at this film with an open mind. While some of the jokes are predictable, the entire audience that night were filled with genuine smiles and laughters. |
