I just came back from an advance screening of this film, and I can honestly say I haven't laughed so much in a theatre for many years, probably dating back to "There's Something About Mary".
Quirky? You betcha. Highly original, this family puts the fun back in dysFUNctional. Greg Kinnear is wonderful as his career falls apart, Steve Carrell like you've never seen him before, and Alan Arkin as the Grandpa that speaks whatever is on his mind. And that's just the first 15 minutes of the movie.
You know how so many movies today follow a formula: Funny/wacky, followed by mushy realization/growth, ending in one big happy? Don't worry, "Little Miss Sunshine" is anti-formula, rarely predictable, smart and highly entertaining.
Just go to see it - you can thank me later. |
