Did someone forget to add the jokes?

This movie had all the makings of a good comedy. Owen Wilson has made some very funny movies recently and the previews hyped this film up to be among par. The movie started out pretty slow with some story development but about 30 minutes in I noticed that I had not laughed yet. Numerous comical situations were set up only to never be capitalized upon. Over an hour into the movie I came to the conclusion that this is definitely not the type of comedy that we are used to with Owen and I became very disappointed. I eventually walked out of the theater out of pure boredom and frustration. For those of you who like movies along the lines of Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, Anchorman, or even Meet the Parents do not see this movie. The target audience for this film is clearly women and people with very bland senses of humor. A good date movie but other than that a definite failure. |
