The large dance scenes on the streets of New York, the fantasy sequences, such as the bowling alley.... these had much energy and the music worked really well. The new covers of Beatles classics in these scenes were great. For me, the film bogs down in the second half, when it involves the war protest scenes and the rough times for Jude and Lucy's relationship. The energy drops a good deal, and the direction is no longer as inventive. |
