Quite a mess, but a journey to remember...

I saw this film last night @ the Westpark 8 (Irvine, CA) with my bf & a couple of his friends.
My thoughts: Wow. This film was soooooooo complicated. There's a LOT going on, and although I didn't read the 3 graphic novels/prequels, I did get the jist of most of the plotline.
The music was pretty awesome, especially the musical sequence of the Killers song.
Visuals were amazing. Effects yes, but cinematography, not throughout the film.
Overall, I liked the film. All of the people who watched it with me were like "What?!?!" at the end, so we had a really long discussion about what meant what, and who was who, etc, which was interesting since I haven't had that happen to me after a film in a long time.
"Southland Tales" I feel will end up being a misunderstood film, perhaps quite a mess, but it's a journey you'll remember.
Great Acting: Sean William Scott, The Rock
So-So Acting: Sarah Michelle Gellar (although she didn't have much to do)
Bad Acting: Justin Timberlake, Mandy Moore (sorry), Bai Ling |
