I didn't expect to like this one as much as I did, but the beauty and charm really sunk in for me tonight, and it was a movie that I didn't want to see end. I could have enjoyed another half hour just to see how Crowe and the beautiful women got along after he moved in.
In this movie Crowe goes through the somewhat cliche transformation from big time workaholic money maker to a guy who learns to treasure the simple things in life, which isn't a new idea, but how it all happened was done in a refreshing way. I don't think the young crowd will like this at all, but all of us old enough to have fond memories of a place and time gone by may enjoy Crowe's journey. This film reminded me often of my grandparents' farm in New England. That is where the similarity ended, but it got me in that sentimental mood. My wife said I just liked the women, and they were ooohhh good, but the whole film with the vineyards and the country estate just had a lot of charm. I recommend it for the over forty crowd. A Good Year was a good two hours. |
