but other than the visuals, there's not much going for this movie. Poor character depth and a turn of events that don't explain the very basic principle of "why?".
A movie in a "28 Days Later" way, in that the premise is simple: deliver a bomb to the sun to reinvigorate it and preserve mankind's existance on Earth. No more needs to be explained there, but...
**SPOILER ALERT**
The captain of the Icarus 1....no explanation of how he could survive for 6+ years on his own. Air & water are explained and perhaps, it can be understood that with the loss of his crew, he had enough food. But in a skinless condition? With a maniacal strength that enables him to lift up another person single handedly? I'm sorry, but either this aspect of the film was underused or needed some further work...there just wasn't enough to it to make much sense. Aw well...yet another movie high on visuals...and low on story. |
