I am not some young punk who gets off on horror films and is disappointed when they are not gory enough. Having said this, I have read the wildly varying opinions about this film from those who think it "is the greatest film I have ever seen" and those who "left in the middle of the film and asked for my money back". Having seen these diametrically opposing views I was puzzled. So, I went to see the film, not bing a huge fan of horror flicks. I have come away from the experience with the opinion that those who so vehemently hate this film are those who hate Christianaity in general and are just turned off by the religious aspects of this film.
The film is not "the greatest film I have ever seen" by a long shot, but it is riviting in its suspense, and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way. I thought it was pretty well done, though the last sequence of events at the end were rather corny and hoaky. Up until the last say 20 minutes I was genuinely entertained by the suspense of the film. The acting was very, very good. This is not an academy award film. Lets face it, it is a horror film and few, if any, of those ever win awards for their atristic brilliance. But, it was entertaining, suspenseful, scarey, and the acting was great. Therefore, if you are not alergic to Christianity and you want to see a thriller, I say it is worth the $8 bucks to go see. For those who can't stand to sit through the film, get over yourselves. |
