I finished reading 'The Devil Wears Prada' mere hours away from viewing this film. I loved the book and was sure that it would make a great film as it was written in the book. However the director, had their own ideas to 'improve' the story. Meryl Streep completely hits Miranda Priestly on the head and Anne Hathaway's awkward Andy Sachs is very well played too. But just too much of the story was lacking. Characters names and descriptions were changed when it had not the slightest difference to make in the film. The way Andy 'leaves' Miranda was much different in the book and I was thorougly looking forward to that in the film, but alas, they changed it yet again and made it less satisfying. This film left me feeling incomplete and wanting more, but more never came and the credits rolled. I think if you haven't read the book you might like this film. If you have, be prepared to be unprepared about what's happening. |
