The Devil Wears Prada is one of the best comedies of the year. Meryl Streep as Miranda, the Editor in Chief of "Runway" magazine, the top fashion magazine in the industry, is the perfect role for this outstanding actress. I enjoy Meryl Streep, but hear she is devine! Anne Hathaway as her newly hired assistant Andrea is great as well, and stands up to the fashion heroine. The story is about a girl, Andrea, who is trying to get a job as a second assistant at "Runway" magazine, though she doesn't have the slightest clue about fashion and has no sense of style. Miranda is the Editor of the magazine and decides to take a chance with the
girl, she's like no other who has had the position before her. Andrea quickly finds out she isn't right for the job, but is a hard
worker and will do what she has to to get it done. Her co-workers are surprised by her image and lack of knowledge in fashion. Meanwhile, her friends and boyfriend are realizing Andrea is so busy with the job, she barely has no time for them. Every waking minute she finds her self at Miranda's beckon call, but hey, that's what
she is paid for. Andrea finds herself constantly belittled by the first assistant Emily but deals with it, Emily has worked for Miranda for a few years and knows the ropes. Their exchanges create quite a bit of humor. But will Andrea work out as Miranda's assistant, can she handle the job and her life at home?
This movie has tons of humor and most of it comes from the demanding persona of Miranda, and Streep does a great job at being the stern
editor. Innocent and drab Andrea forces you to cheer for her. The story is great and everything comes together and flows so well. There is never a dull moment and plenty of laugh-out-loud humor. Enjoy this great summer flick and enjoy the wonderful performances. A- |
