The problem with Goyas Ghost is it has the feel of "girl with the pearl earing" without some underlying motivation. The director draws you to a potential moment of clarity and leaves you scratching your head in bewilderment. If the intention was to provoke a sense of inevitable futility than mission accomplished... The film documents the degrees of compromise and the resulting fruits from those choices made... If you see the film as just a "slice of life" than to have no ultimate conclusion at the films end would only make sense... so as far as this film is concerned, i'm still on the fence... |
