If you have been to the Prado in Madrid, if you like Forman movies, if you like art, you will like this movie. Don't be disappointed if you think this is about Goya and his life. It's not. It's about exactly what the title says, his ghosts. The ghosts are his art and the people he knew. Forman uses Goya's art like Kubrik used Beethoven in "A Clockwork Orange." It's everywhere. Don't expect to find obvious villains or saints in this. Forman's better than that. He shows a very interesting time in history. Forman could have done more with that history, but focuses on art, which is excusable. There are no obvious conclusions to be seen, the journey is very interesting and the music and art exquisite. |
