Interesting story and good commentary on how one initial lie in the search for recognition and respect led a writer and his friend down into a bottomless pit of thrill-seeking fraud. Although this was based on a past historic event, I can imagine that it could happen today if a subject could be found who is able to successfully avoid media attention. Surely making up reality about a recluse like Howard Hughes and then capitalizing on the public's obsession with celebrity could be twisted by the mind of a desperate writer into something that almost seems foolproof and sane. I went into this film without expectations and enjoyed what I got from it both visually and philosophically. |
