This film does stick to some of the action/thriller basics (Richard Donner, reliable as always), but it has it's twists, turns and "on the edge of your seat" moments.
An NYPD officer (Bruce Willis) is in charge of getting minor criminal (the likeable Mos Def) to testify before a grand jury. Problem is, the bad guys (headed up by David Morse) are fellow cops who want Def dead. Willis and Def need to cover 16 blocks to get to the courthouse........a drive that should have only taken 12 minutes, now takes 2 hours of stomach clenching suspense.
Willis, as always, gives a first class performance. The chemistry between him and Mos Def (who really is turning into a very good actor) is great. Donner seems to have a real knack for getting the right people to work with (just think back to the "Lethal Weapon" series), this film is perfectly cast.
This is a really entertaining movie, I highly recommend it. What can be better than a good ole Bruce Willis action flick? ;) |
