Good For A Fun Time

Scoop is a movie that I believe was intended to just be a fun time. After seeing the movie I felt like just having fun at the movies is something that we don't see very often anymore. There are too many people out there making movies intended to teach me something or make me think. After my workday is done do I really want that? Scoop is a refreshing fun romp.
I do have a few issues with this movie. I felt throughout that actors were just reciting lines... not much in the way of very strong acting. It was almost as though they just got through memorizing before shooting the scene. It felt like a high school play. The plot is a tired old retread of some old movies you may have seen. The relationship between the Woody Allen and Scarlett Johansson characters is wildly contrived at best-- their relationship has little motivation for getting started and instantly becomes a strong one for no very good reason.
But who cares about these things when you are having a good time? The movie overall is a rare delight and I'm sure you will enjoy yourself. |
