I thought this movie was very sad. I had no idea of the struggles, and ordeals that these women were/are facing in Mexico. I think it is horrible that we live in a society that can be so blind to all the tragedies, and injustices in the world (and even in our back-yard almost so to speak). I also agree with an earlier reviewer in stating that I hate that we live in such a corrupt, and in many circumstances scary, society, and environment. To know that people, especially politicians can be bought with such ease, and made to look the other way (in cases like this, or in anything really, good or bad) is horrifying to thik of, or know. I thought the acting was great, but of course I think anything J-LO does is great, and while this is great, but Selena is still her best. Now, Antonio Banderas delivered his best performance to date. Sonia B. did outstanding in a small, supporting role. And of course the actress who played Eva/Ava was award worthy. This movie overall gets two thumbs-up. I know that stuff like what occured in the movie can, and does happen in other parts of the world, and especially now, thanks in part to the movie. I hope more will see this film, and that more will learn of what is going on. The story was suspenseful, sad, interesting, and very dramatic. I hope anyone who likes a good story, and wants to know the truth about what goes on around us will give this movie a glance at the very least. This, and more stories like it need to be told. |
