The title of the movie is border town. By the title i understood it will be more about illegal immigration and drug wars. None of that.
Movie suggests against NAFTA, against the hiring of women in factories and against the presence of factories in Mexico. In the Special Features section, the woman actually says that there is at least work available in Juarez. So what is the point? Factories should not be there or they should not hire women? Wages if low are decided by the local labor conditions. Acting of J Lo is very poor. When she confronts Marco on the factory floor, she could have delivered a good set of dialogues, instead she begins and almost ends with "who are you"? The huge wealth of social worker is unexplained. "devil" with all his wealth, why will he go out to take on J Lo on his own? Was the bus driver bringing women to this guy Rodriguez? Topic is great. But dialogues, acting and script is very very poor. Looks like one of the early movie for J Lo. |
