A city family moves to a farm in North Dakota. With elements of "The Birds" and "The Amityville Horror", "The Messengers" is weird but effectively scary (not gory). The cast is excellent, with up-and-coming actress Kristen Stewart outstanding as a strong, young, heroine. The visual effects are surprisingly good. By the way, if you want to try a good old-fashioned horror film, try "The Curse of the Demon"(1957).
P.S. As usual, the young woman does go down into the spooky old cellar. |
