OK, if you enjoyed Saw and the likes and just can't wait to see yet another me-too film, there might be something for you in this. For all others, you'll be in for a mambo-jambo, swimsuit edition, blood-splattered trainwreck of a movie. Starting with very basic concepts, there isn't much of Brazil in the film: people names are incorrect, accents are incorrect and the geography doesn't remotely resemble Brazil. Put it aside, and you'll see a movie which anticipates what's going to happen for an hour or so, just to deliver less than 1 hour worth of blood and gore (I wonder if that's so due to budgetary constraints). If you were enthralled by the film quasi-porn visuals, be prepared to withstandd a quasi-porn level of acting proficiency, too. |
