ASK THE DUST is one of those glimpses of the past that you wonder if you really need to know more about. Can't believe how many chicks are going to see this flick because Colin exposes all. I did like the mood and the style of the film, even though mostly dark and dreary. Living at the brink of poverty isn't a very pleasant place to be, and capturing the emptiness that a depression can evoke is one of this movie's strong points. It also possesses that "love will find a way" note of optimism, even though it ends on a sour note. This is very serious subject matter and the two stars do a capable job of sharing many special moments, even sexual ones. It is an "art" film with class yet very few exciting moments but memorable ones. |
