SUSPENSEFUL YET STUPID

I don't know how they dit it: somehow, they came up with a horror film that is quite suspenseful and moody, yet for all it's worth, it is the cerebral equilivent of a box of rocks. Same premise as the original, kind of. Only this one is primarily set in one of the coolest houses EVER! and the director seems to take a chunk of every single horror trick that's ever been used, fuse them all together, and has created a pretty decent little flick. Cast all logic aside, however, when you are watching, and you won't be disappointed. However, I feel that it is important that if you haven't ever seen the 1979? version with Carol Kane, that you ought to rent it. It is a far superior film, at least the first half hour, anyway. Both versions contain the all time classic horror one-liner, "Have you checked the children?" I just gave myself goosebumps. |
