We`ve seen the movie within a movie within a movie done so many times, its almost a shtick now. Director Winterbottom injects so much humor and originality in "tristam shandy", thanks in no large part to Steve coogan playing "Steve Coogan" playing "Tristam shandy", that watching the movie is like a feast for the senses. As i mentioned, Coogan is hilarious, hitting the right note whenever he speaks any line of dialogue, one can only wonder if a lot of the movie was Improv, since its very similar to the humor of "The office" in a way, both the UK and pitch perfect US version, in that you believe its improv since the actors are so convincing. I`m only vaguely familiar with the "tristam shandy" book, but i know its considered "unfilmable." But director Winterbottom has put together a great ensemble cast that proves that notion wrong in his own way. |
