Unlike his highly civilized, neighbors, the Mongols had no written language. During their rise all Mongols generals and his leaders were illiterate. The FIRST written records of his life were written decades AFTER his death by a Chinese history who was well-aware of the Mongols taking over China and killing millions in the process. This book is called "The Secret History of the Mongols." In other words, the anonymous author of this work could hardly be impartial.
Truth be told we know very little about Temujin's life before he became Khan. We know that T. belonged to the nobility, that his father was betrayed and killed, and that in his childhood he endured extreme poverty. The rest is mere speculation.
Thus, Mongols The Movie is a best guess of what Temujin's life must have been. There are several poetic licenses but they are definitively not history errors. Simply no one was there taking notes. I think it was high time that someone made a high-budget movie about the greatest, most successful conqueror that ever lived.
