I don't understand why so many reviewers didn't enjoy this movie. Maybe they don't like either Uma Thurman or Ivan Reitman.
By now, most moviegoers know what this movie is about, so I won't bore you with plot details.
Uma Thurman is wonderful as G-Girl! Just about every guy has gotten 'the Look' from a woman at some point in their lives, and Uma Thurman delivers 'the Look' perfectly. We've all dated a woman who got jealous over nothing, and again she pulls this off.
Luke Wilson is great as her befuddled boyfriend - full of hope and joy at the beginning of the relationship, and desperately trying to get out once he realizes she's not the woman for him.
The supporting cast is also terrific, especially Anna Faris, Rainn Wilson, and Eddie Izzard.
Sure, the ending was contrived, but so what? It was still funny.
The audience seemed to thoroughly enjoy this movie.
For me, it was far more entertaining than many of the movies this summer, including Superman Returns, Pirates, and Nacho Libre. |
