Why do people insist on realism in movies? What's the whole reason for going to see a movie ? Isn't it about being entertained? about escaping reality? about fantasies? Come on...
Also, why do people have to compare a movie star's past roles with the current one?
Sure, the plot is the usual action-movie plot. A bank executive's family are held hostage and he has to help the bad guys to transfer money. Sure, Harrison Ford is old, and not Indiana Jones anymore. Sure, there are some silly or even absurd technical details.
But Harrison Ford's fierce acting is still unmatched. No actors could show such vulnerability, fear, strength, and courage at the same time like him. His expressions when facing threat, danger, despair, hope, fear, love, are more real than anybody. Indiana Jones or not, Harrison Ford can still act as a hero as usual.
Virginia Madsen delivers an excellent peformance. I don't mind Paul Bettany's British accent. He is ruthless enough.
The visuals are breathtaking. It's not just about the rain. The house is beautiful and so romantic.
To me, this movie is not about the techno stuff. I don't care if the iPod can store 10,000 account entries. I don't care if a security expert uses a password of only 4 letters. This movie is about courage and love. It's about an average man who risks his life to save his wife and his children. How many of us can do that?
I am entertained. That's what it counts. I enjoyed the movie. But who knows. Perhaps it's because I was sitting next to my lady friend, the most beautiful woman on earth. She just doesn't like me tickling her hand. |
