Prepared for Worst - Pleasantly Surprised!

When my eleven year old, a Big Mama I veteran, wanted to go see Big Mama II, I felt a little queezy. I had not seen the original and knew nothing about either movie. What a pleasant surprise it was to see a pretty solid story line and believable, if not professional, acting.
From the start, the movie seemed like it was for a more mature audience than I had expected. The humor was cute, with a not-so-obvious children's guide on how to be your own person. The absentee parent lectures were quite a bit more overdone, but none-the-less another admirable effort of the producers to push family matters to the forefront.
If you allow yourself to get past the movie title and your preconcieved expectations of a silly movie, you just might find yourself enjoying a pleasant day at the movies too. By the way, my eleven year old loved it, and thought that "BMII" was way better than the first. I just hope that we all take the family story to heart, and make an effort to improve our relationships. |
