Excellent writing and acting more than compensate for any failure to create a nitty-gritty reality. Emotional truth, which this film has in abundance, is what really matters to me. The one moment that doesn't ring true for this Bronx girl, is that a City Islander would shlep down to the Staten Island ferry to propose. He has enough boats right where he lives, but maybe no backdrop as majestic as the Manhattan skyline to satisfy the film maker. |
