Previewed it last night at the local theatre that I used to work at. Hostel was definitely the most horrifying movie I've seen since the first House of 1,000. In terms of gore and brutality, it really starts of pretty tame (according to my expectations), but by the end, I found myself not wanting to watch, my heart beating faster, as I was berated with gore and brutal imagery surrounded by Eli Roth's gloomy and gritty cinematography and settings. The acting was a little sketchy, especially early, but Jay Hernandez definitely redeemed himself for CrazyBeautiful by the end. And also, tons of nudity. If killing, cussing, and nudity is your thing, then this is your Titanic. Personally, I've seen it, it was well made, but I can't possibly imagine watching it again. |
