I rented this movie last night half anticipating something less than memorable and coma enducing. However, I was quite thrilled to find out that this film has charisma and spunk. Cuba isn't a thug. Clearly. Unfortunately, his acting reflected that as it seemed to be forced and stretched. Aside from that...everyone else was great. This film did have some sort of weird Training Day feel...all the way down to seeing Cuba toot cocaine. We were able to get a feel for the characters enough to "judge" them. I absolutely love the twist in which you find out why the one of them hallucinates. The only character with real sense is the boy who plays the rat. I enjoyed his scene because it shows how people make general assumptions about a person based from their race. Now, I must also bring up Rita...Was she a real cop killer? Who knows...it doesn't tell us much about that...or why she chose to change her mind at the end of the film. Dirty reminds us all that in the end you reap what you sew. Overall, I recommend the movie. |
