ive read so many reviews about how RACIST this movie was, how UNFUNNY it was, and how its promotional advertisement leading up to it was somehow MISLEADING. first of all id like to point out im caucasion. this movie is not some call to arms against white people, it is in fact an invitation to ALL people to come and experience a piece of real life culture. the whole purpose of this film, is to take you back to that block party - BLOCK PARTY - not a stand up act *READ THE TITLE OF THE MOVIE* - and show you a good time, and i sure had one. that being said, this movie was hilarious - dave is amazing, and he doesnt need to make a joke about a crackhead to be funny. If you dont understand the subtle wit and the humor in this film, than you are obviously NOT a real dave chapelle fan and should not label yourself as one. getting angry because of your own ignorance is NOT justified, and this movie should not be smothered in your criticism for it. admittedly their are a few REAL areas in the movie i felt were off because of transition issues, but again those dont cause any real sort of discomfort. bottomline, if youre a REAL dave chappelle, and not just a fan of his pot jokes - then go see this movie. otherwise, dont see it and complain. |
