I first saw this film in the New York showing. Now the story was good, but do to the circumstances, he could not shoot the movie in true Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emrates, Bahrain, Morroco, Oman, Syria, Egypt etc. It would have been funnier. Brooks brings back old remeambral characters such as Danny the puppet from his 1960's stand-up comedies. The film gives us a look at what do people think and feel about Muslims. The location he shoot in this movie was...instead of true Muslim countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE) he shoots it in India & Pakistan. But the film was mostly shoot in India were the majorty of Muslims is limited. But like Brook's other films (Mother, The Muse) he gives us a classy style of comedy that you really need to pay attention to get the jokes, even though the film sounds racist and offensive, it isn't, just to be clear.
Overall the film was great and is recommended for Theater viewing and for DVD viewing. |
